Vale Young People Showcase Their Community Projects!
2012 event
On the 1st March, the Vale Volunteer Bureau held its annual awards evening to celebrate the completion of six community projects conceived, managed, and funded by young volunteers from across the Vale.
Projects were funded via Dish Out Dosh, a ‘Dragons Den’ style panel entirely made up of young people who chose to divide the £10,500 between six projects ranging from a youth managed silent disco run by a homeless charity Llamau, to a project at the Amelia Trust Farm designed to give young people the opportunity to learn practical construction skills.
During the evening young people showcased their achievements over the last eight months and also gave the opportunity for Jim Fitzgibbon Chair of the Vale Volunteer Bureau to award certificates to ten young volunteers, who between them have carried out over 1500 hours of volunteering in the last few months.
Alex Greenfield, a member of the Dish Out Dosh panel said “I really enjoyed the evening, it was very well attended and was great to get the young people together now that projects are coming to an end.”
Dish Out Dosh are currently looking for new panel members. For more information on getting involved or any aspect of volunteering in the Vale contact Holly Williams Youth Volunteering Adviser on 01446 421782 or holly@vvb.org.uk.
